We must obey the rules of the road, speed limits being one of them.

We must not exceed the speed limit of the road. Most roads will show the maximum speed.

If no speed limit is shown, then for cars it is as follows:

60mph on a single carriageway road

70mph on a dual carriageway road

Generally if you find that a road has steet lights, then the maximum speed on that road is 30mph - unless stated otherwise. These types of roads are found in built up areas.

Be aware of the circumstances around you as they may require you to adjust your speed.
