When driving behind a heavy goods vehicle, it is difficult to see the road ahead. If you cannot see the road ahead it is impossible to give yourself enough time to react to any dangers that may be up ahead.

If you find yourself driving behind a heavy goods vehicle, stay well back. This will give you a better view ahead, the driver of the HGV will be able to see you and you have a safe stopping distance, should anything happen.

If you leave a safe distance between yourself and the HGV infront and a vehicle uses this gap to enter your lane, do not get annoyed, simply create a safe gap between you and the vehicle infront of you.
