Many of us assume that an under inflated tyre will look flat, but this is not the case. Due to this assumption, many motorists do not regularly check their tyre pressure.

An under inflated tyre can cause the following issues:

• reduce your vehicle's performance

• increase braking distance - especially on wet roads

• cause under/over steering

• increased risk of tyre blow outs

• increased risk of punctures.

These are just some of the issues that can be caused by under inflated tyre.

Remember, check your tyre pressure when the tyres are cold for a more accurate reading.

Whilst this is not something you need to be too concerned about as a learner, because our driving instructors ensure that their vehicles are properly maintained, it is vital knowledge for when you become a full licence holder.
